West Bay Lagoon, sometimes referred to as Qutaifiya Lagoon and sometimes mistakenly known as West Bay Complex, is a private beach-front residential freehold development, located at the northern tip of the West Bay district in of the city of Doha, Qatar. The project contains artificial land surrounded by artificial lagoons, extending more than 2 kilometer (1.24 miles) inland from the natural shoreline. It will be located at the entrance to The Pearl-Qatar and next to Lusail City to its north.

West Bay Lagoon will contain several hundred buildings that include residential towers (Lagoon Plaza), luxury hotels (Ritz Carleton, InterContinental, Grand Hyatt), a commercial center, recreational facilities and private clubs (Diplomatic Club).

Its uniqueness is in its ownership properties, whereby non-qataris can purchase properties just as equally as nationals.The origins of this project part of the West Bay (formally called the New District of Doha). West Bay covers a large amount of real estate (several square kilometres in total) and was master planned by William L. Perreira & Associates of Los Angeles in the late 1970s.Off to a slow start, the pace of development has picked up during the last half dozen years. A confluence of several developments caused this, not the least of which was the construction of West Bay Lagoon, an up-market residential development consisting of several hundred building lots sited around an artificial lagoon extending more than 2-kilometer inland from the natural shoreline. Land excavated to create the lagoon was dumped offshore to create several fingers of artificial land on which will be built luxury hotels, a commercial centre, and various recreational facilities and private clubs. The West Bay Lagoon marks the northern limit of the West Bay area and is also now evolving as the premier beachfront hotel district extending northward from the Doha Sheraton. Large waterfront hotels recently opened here include the Ritz Carleton and the InterContinental, with more on the way.Losail city is another adjacent town spurring up with intending to create the West Bay Lagoon as the epi-center of the future Doha metropolis.

Atkins was commissioned by the Client to review all of the water park drawings produced by Canadian designers and to further develop these ideas for the island. The objective would be to improve on the amenities and enhance the experience of both local visitors and guests of the Ritz Carlton Hotel. The water park will be designed with a Polynesian theme and placed on a separate island, linked to the hotel via a bridge.
